VR Horror Game

The terrifying and interactive storytelling game was made in Unity during a Human Computer Interaction Jam in just a week.

The game features custom mechanics including interactive noises, NPCs and jump scares. The concept was built from the ground up with the goal of inducing set emotions within the user.

The initial feeling of safety and calmness with the world design, comforting music and a task to pick flowers leads the user into a false sense of security, but over time the game reveals it's sinister reality.

Skills presented

  • Unity Game Engine

  • Programming in C#

  • Game loop design

  • User testing & iteration

  • Adaptability and quick learning

The HCI Jam Week was an extremely productive week where I learnt a ton of new skills.

The two biggest skills that I learned were using Unity Engine to build the entire game and creating scripts in C# that would enable the core functionality of the experience.

The testing methods had to be changed from the way we usually test UX Designs, focusing on the functionality and ease-of-use, making sure that everyone can experience the game without bugs.

Skills learned

  • Using Unity to make a game

  • Writing scripts in C#

  • Horror Game loop design

  • User testing & iteration for games

  • Creating animations
